The Electricity at Work
Regulations 1989
These regulations came into force in
1990.
They
impose a duty on all people in the workplace (employers,
employees, self employed etc) to take precautions against risk
of injury or death arising out of the use of electrical
equipment.
The
regulations are wide ranging but much of the content
relates to the use of portable appliances.
Person(s) responsible for the safety of appliances at work who
fail to conform to the requirements are liable to prosecution.
Landlords , Hair stylist Salons, Shops and many other
business owners also have a duty to take
precautions against injury or death caused by electrocution.
